A new chapter in the history of Unibet poker

Effective from November 6th, Unibet poker will only be available in the following markets: UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, Estonia, Malta, Finland, and France (France a separate network). All customers that have currently got access to the Unibet poker product, and aren’t from any of the above mentioned markets, they’ll be migrated to a new BoaBet brand. On BoaBet, the same poker network/product will be available, but it’ll strictly be through the browser client. There will not be any Windows, OSX/Mac, Android or iPhone app for BoaBet. The drop in traffic will be noticeable for certain games and stakes, but the games will also become considerably softer, as (1) the winning regulars are almost exclusively playing on the Windows and Mac apps, and (2) it’s predominantly winning markets that are impacted. In recent years, we’ve closed markets that combined accounted for a double digit rake share, while also

Mystery Bounty tournaments on Unibet?

When will Unibet poker add Mystery Bounty tournaments? Almost every week, I’m asked the same question: ‘when will you be adding Mystery Bounty tournaments to your schedule?’. It’s a valid question, especially given how popular the format has become. In this blog post, I’ll break down how the Mystery Bounty format works, how our competitors have implemented it, and whether we’ll be seeing it on Unibet in the near future. What is a Mystery Bounty tournament? In a mystery bounty tournament you are rewarded a mystery prize (unknown amount) for knocking out another player. Unlike in regular bounty or progressive bounty tournaments, bounties typically aren’t available at the start of the tournament, so there’s no reward for knocking out players early on. Instead, mystery bounties will typically be added/become active when there’s between 15% and 25% of the players left. The format was originally introduced in the WSOP back in

HexaPro: Why we bet on 1.5x and might fold

When we went live with HexaPro – our take on Jackpot Sit & Go (hereinafter JPSNG) – in 2018, we chose a very different multiplier distribution. At the time, and it still holds true today, all competitors had a minimum multiplier of 2x: you were always guaranteed to play for at least double your buy-in. We went with 1.5x for the lowest multiplier, as it’d allow for less games of the lowest multipliers and for instance 10 times more 10x than with other site. Despite the 1.5x and higher occurrence of for instance 10x, the variance was still limited over larger samples, partly because we didn’t have the +10,000x option that practically never hit (usually 1-5 in 10,000,000 chance). Before we dive deeper, let’s first have a look at our current distribution (remains unchanged since launch) compared to competitors. Competitor example distribution Our current distribution for €1-€25 regular HexaPro The

How much is Unibet poker paying in rakeback?

Before we get started, I’d like to clarify that this post is primarily looking at total rewards/rakeback from promotions and loyalty combined, but you’ll also find data solely for loyalty rakeback. The industry often keeps rakeback details, particularly those related to loyalty programs, quite secretive. For many sites, there’s a good reason for this: what appear to be a very generous loyalty programs aren’t as beneficial, once you scratch beneath the surface. Promotional phrases like “Up to x%” and “average rakeback of x%” are commonly seen when advertising loyalty programs. However, these figures can be misleading. Often, the fine print or terms and conditions will include a statement like “rewards are based on the number of points you collect, not the rake you pay,” which significantly alters the perception of the program’s value. Even worse, some sites that are part of one of the largest poker networks fail to disclose

Confirmation of €50-€100 HexaPro changes

Last month, we covered The state of €50-€100 HexaPro games and I teased for some potential upcoming changes to the game. Today, I’ll confirm the game mechanics we’ve settled on. The go-live date is not confirmed just yet, but we hope to have it ready in little over a month. Summary of key changes 1.5x minimum multiplier becomes 2x. We’re – for the €50 and €100 stakes – moving away from our very unique multiplier distribution with 1.5x as the smallest potential prizepool. Rake is lowered from 6.853% to 6%. With more money at stake in the lowest multiplier games (2x instead of 1.5x), we’re also slowing down the games with 2 minutes level up time, instead of the current 1 minute. The 25x multiplier is removed and a new 4x multiplier is added. A 10x prizepool is no longer winner takes it all but instead: 1st=8x, 2nd=1x, 3rd=1x. New
